TWO people involved in a car accident on the outskirts of Carisbrooke were taken to hospital this afternoon (Sunday).

The man and woman suffered minor injuries following the single vehicle accident on Whitcombe Road, which happened at around 4.45pm.

An ambulance took the casualties to St Mary's Hospital, Newport.

The two casualties were taken to hospital as a precaution, a spokesman for the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service said.

There was also a suggestion the vehicle may have rolled in the accident, the spokesman added.

Police temporarily closed the road between Carisbrooke and Chillerton while the vehicle was being recovered.
