Old Millhillians 15 Hampstead 5

Although Mark Freer's five penalties undoubtedly won the league points for Millhillians, his excellent strike rate -- he only missed one -- camouflaged an intensity of purpose that had eluded the old boys for much of the season.

The conditions prevented it from being a great spectacle but Millhillians did much to dispel recent gloom with a committed performance thast lacked tries only because the final passes went astray or sniping breaks were stopped short of the line.

Hampstead did not help themselves with a string of mistakes, including three re-starts that went straight into touch, but the home side, grey drizzle or not, were never going to let this one out of their grasp.

Three penalties from Freer before the break set up the win and two more sealed the points although Hampstead capitalised on some sloppy play almost on the final whistle for the game's only try.
