Undercliff PFI plan

By Martin Neville

Saturday, February 2, 2013

PLANS to stabilise Undercliff Drive have been announced by Island Roads, the consortium that will manage the highways PFI contract.

The work will be divided into four schemes, in Hunts Road, near the caravan park, Mirables and Woodlands.

Paul Herbert, service director, said: "All four sites will involve a variety of solutions, including soil nailing, piling and reinforced mattresses beneath the new carriageway, all of which will stabilise the ground."

The first phase of work is due to start in December 2014, it was said at the company’s Ventnor roadshow on Monday.

Mike,
I think you misunderstood the tradesman when he said, "see you next Tuesday"

Richard, why 2 years? This is the Isle of Wight. Do you seriously think they will start in two years? I am still waiting for a tradesman to come "next Tuesday" to lay some slabs to make a patio. When was 'next Tuesday'? Some time in 2005

Any chance one of the overworked Highways staff could come out with a little gang of overworked roadworks crews and mend the horlicks that BT have made of the bottom of Castle Road, Ventnor?
No? I didn't think so.
Just leave it like it is then - is that the plan?
