Ellie Spain, Shaftesbury Barnet's exciting pole vault prospect, and Adam Major, a talented young discus and shot putt exponent, are in the Great Britain and Northern Ireland U20 team in the 'Road to Sydney' Loughborough International match on Sunday.

Only 17, Ellie twice broke the British Junior record with 3.90m in the UK Women's League Division One match at Eton last week.

Adam is among Britain's leading juniors in the discus (50.11m) and shot (15.25m).

Shaftesbury javelin stars, Nick Nieland and world junior champion David Parker represent Britain in a field international at Halle, Germany, on Sunday, May 28.

Several SBH athletes won titles at various county championship meetings during the weekend.

In the Middlesex event at Enfield, Cherie Pierre won three U17 titles, 100m (12.4secs), 200m (26.4secs) and shot (10.20m), and Gemma Thurston had a winning throw of 22.77m in the discus.

Lynne Sprules set a new championship record of 62.47m to win the senior hammer. Another winning senior was Julie Dunkley with 15.87m in the shot.

Alex Fugalo won the men's 400m (47.6secs) and James Trapmore took the 1500m in 3mins 54.3secs.

In the Kent Championships at Crystal Palace. Shaftesbury's , Martin McIntyre won the 100m (11.10secs) and Graham Holder achieved a 23inning throw of 59.43m in the hammer. Barnet and District's Denise Gayle won the senior high jump with 1.70m.

In the Sussex ?hampionships at Crawley, Gabbi Howell won the womens' 400m in 56.07sec, and Craig Linskey, a guest competitor, won the pole vault with 4.85m.

Laura Cowley won the Herts U20 800m title in 2mins 16.7secs.
