Vandals attack cars in Carisbrooke Park

By Matt White - Wednesday, November 18, 2009
MORE cars have been targetted by vandals after six windscreens were broken in Carisbrooke Park in the early hours of Sunday.
Police are appealing for information after reports of criminal damage to four vehicles parked in Kinchington Road, one in Nightingale Road, and one in Wilver Road.
The vandalism follows a recent spate of damage to cars in Ventnor and Newport.
"Nothing was stolen from inside these vehicles and there is no evidence to suggest any attempts were made to steal them, but we are linking all these reports because it is unusual for a sudden series of criminal damage to occur in the area," said PC Steve Quelch, of the Newport South Safer Neighbourhoods team.
Police are carrying out forensic and house-to-house enquiries, and anyone who may have seen or heard people acting suspiciously in the Carisbrooke or Gunville areas during the early hours of Sunday morning to has been asked to contact them.
Information can be given anonymously by calling the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111 or by calling the police switchboard on 0845 045 45 45.
