VANDALS have slashed the tyres of dozens cars, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage, according to Isle of Wight police.
Thirty-seven cars in Carisbrooke Park — the estate next to Carisbrooke College — were damaged in the spate of vandalism. Two cars have had all four tyres slashed.
Insp Andy McDonald, from Newport Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: "Thousands of pounds worth of damage has been caused to cars in this small residential area. This includes a number of repeat victims who have suffered a significant financial burden because of these crimes.
"We have made house to house enquiries, but I am asking residents to be vigilant and report anything suspicious or any information relating to the incident to us."
The damaged cars were parked in Kinchington Road, Nightingale Road, Westmill Street, Mountbatten Drive, Hinton Road, The Finches, Wellington Road and Purdy Road.
The latest incident happened sometime overnight between yesterday (Tuesday) and today (Wednesday), in Purdy Road.
