THE Vecks will walk out in front of tens of thousands of music fans at the O2 in London tomorrow (Saturday) in the final of Live and Unsigned, Britain’s biggest original music competition.

And fans of the band can show their support by texting UNSIGNED51 to 84222."

The band, who hail from Seaview, made it through a series of regional heats to secure their big moment on the national event.

Frontman Jack Skinner said they had been working hard to prepare for the event and were feeling positive.

He said: "I’m sure the nerves will set in on Saturday but we feel ready and we know we have lots of support behind us."

The regional final at Portsmouth Guildhall saw them perform their own material in front of 600 people, including scores of their own fans, who wore T-shirts and waved flags emblazoned with the band’s name.

Jack said the support had been fantastic and called for one last push to edge them closer to the prize package, which includes £10,000, recording contract and appearances at 15 festivals.

The Vecks’ music is influenced by the late Sixties and early Seventies.

They recently released their EP, Heroic Deeds, at the Wight Rock Bar and have also been booked to play V-Dub, Bestival and Seaview’s Party on the Prom. They will also play the Wight Rock Bar on July 27.

Jack said: "We want to say a big thank you for all the support we have received so far."
