THE cause of a fire which wrecked a car and badly damaged a van at Shanklin is currently unknown, police have said.
Fire crews were called to Wilton Park Road at around 4.30am and used one hose reel and breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze, which involved a Renault Kangoo van and a Vauxhall Corsa.
A police spokesman told the County Press: "The fire has been reported to us but the cause is not confirmed at the moment and further inquiries are being carried out to establish whether a crime has been committed."
