A COMMUNITY orchard has been planted on Shooters Hill thanks to an environmental charity.
Fifty traditional and modern fruit trees were planted in Woodlands Farm with the help of environmental regeneration charity Groundwork.
Alongside regular fruit trees, such as pears, plums, cherries and apples, there are north Kent fruit trees such as quince, Medlars and Kentish Cob nuts.
Barclays Sitesavers donated £10,000 to set up the orchard and the farm hopes to involve schools to help make the most of the orchard.
Groundwork are asking for members of the community to come forward to adopt a tree free of charge.
There are 40 trees available and adopters can keep the fruit from the trees for themselves to "share, swap or eat the lot".
