Finchley 37

Westcombe Park 21

This friendly gave Finchley skipper Micky Clifford the chance to try out several players from the third and fourth teams, and his new look side recorded a comfortable win.

Giles Hill put Finchley ahead with a try under the posts, converted by Drew Clark, and Mark George soon combined with debut boy Matthew Wooderson to score number two.

Nick Salem then put Finchley 17-0 up with a try in the corner, but the visitors hit back with a converted try by James McSweeney.

George then completed a fine Finchley move for his second try, and though Bennett hit back for Park, George completed his hat-trick after good work from Nick Salem.

Park brought the score back to 29-21 with a score from the pacey Chris Martin, but Clark was on target with two more penalties to see Finchley home.

On Saturday Finchley visit neighbours Mill Hill (3pm).

o Finchley's second team went down 12-5 in their Lambs Cup semi final with Ruislip. After going 12 points behind they fought back well with scrum-half Ricky Johnson scoring a try, but Ruislip held on to win.
