DESPITE the icy temperatures this week, the Isle of Wight looks more like the Caribbean in the latest video by Isle of Wight act Kingz of Vocals, released this month.
The hip-hop act teamed up with Jamaican dancehall artist Terro Melody for the track Shorty Wanna Get High and have produced a video to match the song’s summertime feel.
But it was filmed entirely on the Island, with locations including the derelict holiday camp at Atherfield, St Helen’s Beach and MODA nightclub — in the middle of September.
The band also found themselves getting some unexpected attention from the police.
"We were at Atherfield and we had this big soundsystem we had set up, but weren’t plugging it in. The police turned up and we thought they were going to start taking names and stuff, but we just chatted to them and told them what we were doing and they loved it," said Jay Bailey.
The band was formed around ten years ago and is made up of Jay, Jethro Docksey, Matthew Drake and Kieron Osman.
The collaboration with Terro came about through a mutual friend and Terro came to the Island to film the video after touring the UK with reggae/R&B legend Maxi Priest.
The track was due to be released in Jamaica this week and can be heard at http://tinyurl.com/jxhy8td
