MANY Vodafone customers on the Isle of Wight have been without a service today (Thursday).
The company said there had been problems with masts, but engineers were working to fix them as soon as possible. There was no estimate of how long this would take.

Oh dear. A day and a half without a mobile phone. Unable to access social networking sites on the move, Unable to answer texts immediately. I expect some people had to wait 10 minutes before they could get to a landline or computer! Tragic thatStill on the plus side it probably stopped a few idiots talking on their phones whilst driving.

I was without my phone from 11am yday, couldn't get thru to vodafone customer services was on hold for 15mins, yet they were offering a callback within 6-12mins, I ended up on live chat, to be told I had a faulty sim & I would have to order a new sim at a cost of £5, I had a heated discussion with the operator on chat, when I asked for a full refund for my freedom freebee I had purchased just over a week ago, he had to ask a technical advisor for them to tell him they were in fact doing maintenance! Vodafone should have put a notice on there website to let all there customers know what was happening, doesn't matter if you are contract or pay as you go, should have warned us by text or email. I was waiting for important calls & ended up phoning people to tell them. Vodafone you have a lot to answer for! I'm now looking at other networks to use..

I had no service at all in Newport today, but in the Ventnor, Niton and Whitwell areas it was fine. The only areas of the Island that seem to have 3G coverage are Cowes, East Cowes, Ryde, Shanklin and Sandown.I just watch with envy with my friends in Newport when they're using Facebook at about 10 times the speed I am.. :/

That makes a change, our company phones are with Vodafone and service has been useless lately. Can't believe i picked them when i changed my own phone last year, regretting that decision yet again today
