MORE volunteer drivers are needed in East Cowes to operate the town’s community bus service.
Seven volunteers have signed up so far and town councillors have appealed for more to come forward and help out.
East Cowes Town Council and Whippingham Parish Council agreed to fund the number 25 bus, which links East Cowes with Newport, after residents said it was a vital service.
It is hoped the service can be extended to Saturdays, providing the funds can be found.

With the state of the islands roads and the amount of 1 veiricle accidents we witness who is going to take responserbility for the safety of the passingers if the council is funding this then of course they are right and not the volunteer

Volunteers only as nobody is prepared to pay the drivers for their services.Work for nothing is the new policy. It may pay not pay for the roof over your head or put food in your stomach, but at least your doing your community proud! Are these people on drugs or what !!!

Surely if this service was 'vital' to the residents then there should be enough demand for Southern Vectis to run it within their network? Why do the drivers need to be volunteers?
