THE Earl Mountbatten Hospice is set to open a new shop in East Cowes and is looking for volunteers to staff it.

It will be the charity’s ninth shop on the Isle of Wight when it opens in December.

Voluntary services team leader Judith Stratton said: "This is a very exciting time for us. We are looking to recruit volunteers to work alongside the shop manager as shop assistants or donation sorters to support this exciting new venture as it evolves.

"Retail experience is not necessary as training will take place during October and November. This will ensure all volunteers feel confident in their roles when the shop opens as it is bound to attract a lot of attention in the town, especially in the run-up to Christmas.

"With more than 500 people currently volunteering to support, help and work with the hospice, we depend on members of the community to come forward at this very busy time of year."

Anyone interested in volunteering in the new shop can contact retail team leader Kath Bright on 01983 244230.
