Kingston Eye Centre is encouraging patients to donate their old spectacle frames to Vision Aid, a charity run by the optical profession.

According to John Rose the initiative has helped the world's poor improve their vision but a lot more could be done.

Encouraged

Mr Rose said: "I have been encouraged by the support our patients have given us in the past donating their old spectacles but now want to do even more.'

Between now and the new year Kingston Eye Centre is offering new and existing patients £20 off new spectacles if a pair of old spectacles are donated at the same time.

Mr Rose said: "Our aim is to collect 500 or more frames for Vision Aid by Christmas."
