AN Isle of Wight footballer has played a football match at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro - and is hoping to break a world record.
Ex Isle of Wight and Shanklin Ladies player Maggie Murphy - who has played for clubs in the Netherlands, Germany, Guadeloupe, Tanzania and Rwanda - was one of the organisers of the all-female match at the top of the mountain.

The match was held to campaign for equality in sport by the Equal Playing Field organisation.
While the match between Volcano FC and Glacier FC may have ended goalless, it is expected to break the Guinness World Record for the highest altitude football game ever played.
The teams included players from more than 20 countries, including retired US international Lori Lindsey and former England midfielder Rachel Unitt.
Maggie, who also works as global advocacy manager for anti-corruption agency Transparency International, said: "The match at the top was obviously one of the most unusual game experiences I have had. Oxygen was limited ,so you were constantly short of breath.
"Your football brain still told you to sprint but then you would pull up gulping for oxygen. It was impossible to track back quickly and recovery took longer than normal.
"The pitch was a combination of volcanic ash and pebble.
"This meant striking the ball hard or putting in a perfect pass was almost impossible."
