A FLASH mob to help protect the Portsmouth Daisy Bus took place in Newport over the weekend.

Members of the Isle of Wight Save Our NHS campaign joined with members of the Melodic Choir to perform at Curry's PC World, Quay Arts and the Man in the Moon.

The Wessex Cancer Trust's Portsmouth Bus has ferried patients from the Isle of Wight to mainland hospitals since the mid 1980s. It was originally set to be axed in November after funding was withdrawn however, a private donation in March 2017 and ongoing fundraising has kept the bus in service. So far Wessex Cancer Trust has raised £22,000 of it's £28,000 target.

Christine Lightbody, from Isle of Wight Save Our NHS, said: "The flash mob was a brilliant success.

"We thought in Curry's we might get lost in the big space, but it was great. People had a look of astonishment on their faces when we started up.

"We must always remember that cancer is not selective and it can happen to any one of us."
