TEN Isle of Wight homes have been without water and others have suffered discoloured water this morning (Monday) due to a burst main.
Southern Water engineers were called to Newport Road, Cowes, at 9.45am and the water supplies to ten properties have been shut off while repairs are carried out.
A Southern Water spokesman said: "Some customers may notice discoloured water coming from their taps. If you experience this, run your kitchen tap for a couple of minutes and it should run clear. This discoloration is caused by sediment (iron oxide) which collects on the inside of iron water mains and can be dislodged by a disturbance to the pipe, such as a burst. It is nothing to worry about.
"We’re working as fast as we can to repair the pipe and restore supplies and we’d like to apologise to all those affected."
