A WEATHER warning for heavy rain has been issued for parts of the Isle of Wight on Thursday.

The Met Office yellow 'be aware' warning is in force for all of Thursday. The warning covers the west of the Island to Ryde in the north and St Lawrence in the south.

The Met Office said: "The ground remains saturated, and with the threat of further heavy rain, the public are advised to be aware that localised flooding remains a risk on Thursday."

The chief forecaster said: "There is still a good deal of uncertainty about amounts of rain and locations affected, and this warning may well be revised over the coming days."

Heavy rain is forecast for tonight (Monday) into the early hours of tomorrow. Tuesday is drier with sunny spells and more heavy rain is forecast for Wednesday morning with showers in the afternoon.

WEDNESDAY 09:17 - The weather warning has been lifted by the Met Office
