WEATHER warnings for heavy rain have been issued for the Isle of Wight for today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday).
An amber 'be prepared' warning is in force until 9am today.
The Met Office said: "Periods of heavy rain, including some torrential downpours, are likely to occur across parts of southwest and central southern England during the first part of Monday. This will be in addition to the rain which will have fallen during the day on Sunday, such that the public should be prepared for an increased risk of both surface water and river flooding during this period.
A yellow 'be aware' warning for heavy rain is then in force for the rest of the day and continues for all of tomorrow (Tuesday)
The Isle of Wight Council has made a stock of sandbags available as a precaution.
Sandbags have been placed at Moa Place car park, Freshwater, and Pitts Lane, Binstead. Both areas have been prone to previous flooding. They are also available at the junction of the Strand and Westhill Road in Ryde.
