MORE than £250 was raised as owners and their westies walked the length of Ryde Beach in aid of Westie ReHoming.
Forty dogs attended the Westie Festy yesterday (Sunday), leaving organiser Sharon Sloper "delighted" with the outcome.
She said: "Due to the awful weather conditions we were only expecting 20 to 25 dogs, so it was a tremendous achievement to see 40 turn up at the beach. Some even came over from Portsmouth.
"Due to the success, we’re going to hold our third walk next year, in May.
"To me westies are wonderful, but as they can sometimes develop serious skin conditions they need a lot of attention.
"Some owners are unable to cope with the vet bills, which may lead to the dogs being rehomed.
"We wanted to raise awareness with owners that they shouldn't worry about this and there are charities out there that can help."
