Anup arrived on Wednesday to discuss the event with fundraiser Kishan Jethwa at his South Harrow home and spent an hour with the sick Tanzanian 12-year-old boy at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, where he is waiting for a bone marrow transplant.

The singer, who has been awarded 100 platinum and gold discs, said: "The Jethwas approached me at a concert I was doing in London last year and asked me if I would do a benefit for Fahim.

"They are working very hard, very professionally."

He is due to appear at Harrow Leisure Centre's Byron Hall on July 27, with what he described as his romantic and devotional music sung in Hindi and Urdu. Tickets for the concert will go on sale at Asian ticket agencies in June.

Fahim's parents and brother have been given special leave to remain in England while he undergoes treatment. They are living in Harrow.
