What's on this weekend

It's Rock the Cowes Bars this weekend.

AS YOU might have already seen, heard or smelt, it's the Isle of Wight scooter rally this weekend, with thousands of two-stroke engines descending on the Island.

This weekend also marks the Isle of Wight YMCA's 10th birthday. A party open to all will be held today (Saturday) at their HQ in Winchester House, Sandown Road in Shanklin. Celebrations will begin at noon and carry on til 4pm.

Organisers promise live music, a falconry display, a magician, a science show, games, competitions and more, as well as a barbecue and cream teas.

There will be a swathe of gigs across Cowes this weekend in an effort to raise money for Earl Mountbatten Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support,

Rock the Cowes Bars has already been going for two days, but you can still catch a host of acts today (Saturday) and tomorrow, including DJ Jeff's soul music at The Anchor Pub at 8pm, and the Dance Preachers at Bertie's Bar at 9pm.

Tomorrow (Sunday) is 35th annual Cowes Pram Race, when there will be prizes for Best Dressed, Funniest and Best Engineered Pram. Find more details here: https://sites.google.com/site/cowespramrace/

Finally, tomorrow (Sunday) sees an evening of blues and jazz at the summertime picnic at East Dene House, Bonchurch, from 3 til 8pm. It will be raising funds for the St. Catherine's and Ventnor Rotary Club.

There will be live music from jazzers The Unity Stompers, Keith Ingham and Aydenne Simone. Tickets are available from St. Catherine's Shop and The County Press Shop in Newport, and Seasons in Ventnor.
