A telecom company has dropped its plan to erect a 100ft radio tower in Lincoln Road, Enfield, after an outcry from residents.
Six weeks ago the Independent revealed how Ioneca Ltd were planning to erect the telecoms tower in the Great Cambridge Road Industrial Estate in Lincoln Road.
Residents said they feared radiation emitted by the tower could be the source of a health risk, citing possible links with cancers such as leukaemia.
In a letter to Enfield Council Ioneca said it had dropped all plans to build the tower. It did not give reasons.
