The Bembridge Windmill WI team with the resident Egghead team in BBC2's Eggheads.
WHETHER a team of Bembridge women will put the WI in winning will be known on Monday.
The team from Bembridge Windmill Women’s Institute competes in Eggheads on BBC2 at 6pm.
The team, captained by Sarah Atkins, includes Anna Hardwick, Pam Kalaher, Tina Currie, Brenda Reynolds and Virginia Newbold.
Pam said: "We had such a fun time and we all felt it was quite an experience, albeit a fairly scary one to boot.
"We were approached on our Bembridge Windmill WI website by researchers from the production team to audition for the programme while they were on the Island for a day last year.
"We beat opposing teams and then had a written general knowledge paper and 'screen tests’ of sorts to see how we came across on camera.
"We must have been OK at that and the general knowledge tests as we passed with flying colours, and, much to our surprise were invited a few weeks later to go up for filming and to take part in the programme.
"Our trip included a hotel stay, an Italian restaurant dinner followed by a hair and makeover session amid the Egghead stars."
Sarah said: "They film four episodes a day and we have waited more than a year for it to appear on TV but people will have to wait to see how we get on.
"We will be watching with our families and we will probably have a get-together later to watch it as a team."
• The Huge Hospice Quiz, to raise funds for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, takes place at Lower Hyde Holiday Park, Shanklin, on November 11. Registration for a team of four has an October 31 deadline.
