For £50, BetweenTheCommons.com will include properties on its database, including a picture. It will also carry local advertising.

Potential buyers can look at properties online and contact the seller directly to arrange viewings and offers.

BetweenTheCommons.com says this will save people time and money because sellers can avoid expensive estate agents and buyers will not have to trudge around several different agencies to find a suitable home.

Managing director Peter White said it could save sellers thousands of pounds: "It has become increasingly obvious that people have become fed up with the excessive cost of selling their property, particularly in what is a buoyant housing market."
