A WARNING for strong winds has been issued for parts of the Isle of Wight on Sunday, but a warning for heavy rain this weekend has been lifted.

Heavy rain is still forecast for most of tomorrow (Saturday), but Sunday is expected to be dry and bright, but very windy across parts of the Island.

From midnight to noon on Sunday a 'be aware' warning for strong winds is in place from Cowes in the north of the Island to Ventnor in the south.

The Met Office said: "Gale to severe gale force westerly or southwesterly winds are expected to affect southeastern parts of England during Sunday morning.

"The public should be aware of difficult driving conditions and damage to trees."

The chief forecaster said gusts of 70mph are possible along exposed parts of the south coast.

Should just add that curry is on the menu Saturday night, so quite an apt forecast.
