Witnesses sought after alleged indecent act

POLICE are appealing for more witnesses after a man was accused of an indecent act in Newport.

A woman raised concerns with police after a man was said to be acting suspiciously in bushes close to the Matalan store car park in the St George’s Way and Shide Path area of Newport at around 8.20pm last Friday, July 23.

Police attended the scene and arrested a 63-year-old man from Newport on suspicion of gross indecency.

Investigating officer PC Sam Burrows said: "We remain keen to hear from witnesses who may have noticed a man acting suspiciously near the Matalan car park or on the footpath between Shide and St George’s Approach on the evening of Friday, July 23."
