Witnesses sought after altercation

POLICE have appealed for information after a violent altercation which may have been witnessed by parents collecting their children from school.

An Isle of Wight police spokeswoman said the altercation, between two men, happened in Pelhurst Road, Ryde, between 3.00pm and 4.00pm on Friday, January 10.

"This happened in a busy area, during a time when parents may have been collecting their children from school," said the spokeswoman.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has been bailed by police until next Friday, January 24.

An 18-year-old man suffered minor injuries and marks to his neck. He did not seek medical attention.
