Woman assaulted twice by group

POLICE are investigating a report of a double assault on a woman in Ryde.

Officers are making further enquiries after a 39-year-old woman from the town was attacked by four women in the High Street, outside Mellish’s Post Office, on January 28.

The victim told police she was also assaulted several minutes later by the same four women at the traffic lights in St John's Road.

It is believed the two assaults took place sometime between 8pm and 9pm on Saturday, January 28.

The woman received injuries to her chest, face, arms and legs. They were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have been pursuing several lines of enquiry over the past week to establish the exact chain of events.
