Work to former pub restricts access

The former Three Crowns in Cowes High Street.

VEHICLE access along Cowes High Street has been restricted while urgent works are carried to stabilise the site of the former Three Crowns pub.

The work follows a survey by Isle of Wight Council building control surveyors that found the long-derelict building to be unsafe.

Scaffolding and hoarding will restrict vehicles travelling southbound from Market Hill to Fountain Quay.

A diversion route is in place with the one-way system being reversed in Sun Hill.

Island Roads said drivers of larger vehicles should find alternative loading and unloading points.

The restrictions will be in place until May 27.
