Yacht rescued in high seas

RESCUERS from the Isle of Wight came to the aid of a dismasted yacht in high seas near Hurst Castle on Thursday.

The five strong crew of the yacht Sea Jay called for help when the mast collapsed and went overboard following what an RNLI spokesman described as a catastrophic gear failure.

Yarmouth RNLI was called to the boat’s aid, along with Lymington inshore RNLI lifeboat, at around 4.30pm.

They towed the yacht to Yarmouth.
