AS REGULAR readers will know, Lewisham Cleansing Service failed to pick up a roll of carpet and two steel chairs from outside my flat on December 6.
A letter marked "only December" arrived on December 10 saying LCS had ended the service without notice due to lack of funds. I had to dispose of the soaked carpet myself.
A second letter dated "January" told me my items would be picked up between Monday, January 14, and Friday, January 18.
But the pick-up did not occur. I phoned LCS, but since they had no record of agreeing to pick up anything other than a roll of carpet, they left the chairs. I was invited to make a complaint but told they would not pick up my chairs whatever I had to say!
There are whelk stalls better run than the LCS. Surely the publication of my last letter in the News Shopper has not led to sour grapes?
If Mayor Dave Sullivan and his vaunted "senate of 10" cannot even successfully oversee the rubbish collection service they starved of funds, they should step aside so some competent councillors can get on with it.
