LAST year, they sold deep fried Christmas pudding.

Now, the latest battered Yuletide treat to be sold at Corries Cabin, Cowes, is everyone’s favourite vegetable, the humble brussels sprout.

Manager Derrel Mooney said: "Last year, the Christmas pudding was so popular it almost caught us out, so we had a think about what we could offer extra this year."

As a delicious accompaniment to the vegetable, Corries are also offering a battered turkey and stuffing roll. Both can be served with cranberry sauce, if the mood takes you.

Owner Richard Quigley added: "It’s really meant as a bit of fun, but the sprouts have been a real winner so far. Not only are they good for you but come in a delicious crispy batter. What more could you want?

"Some customers are definitely not sprout lovers but others think it’s great."
