PUCKPOOL Park became a horror playground thanks to a new Halloween event that mixed history and frightening fiction to dramatic effect. The show, Park of the Dead, was held at the Ryde park’s fortifications over six days, from Friday evening until last night (Wednesday), and attracted more than 400 people.
The story centred on top secret government efforts to create super soldiers — with the result being zombies running amok around the park.
It was the brainchild of Dan Gaches, who co-scripted it with friend Ian Dore, a former soldier, who took tour groups on their horror journey.
Dan, who owns Puckpool Tea Gardens, said: "The park is a fantastic back-drop for this kind of thing. The show was very interactive.
"I’m gobsmacked by the feedback I’ve had. They have said they laughed, had frights and were thoroughly entertained. I’m considering doing it again next year. I’ve already got a waiting list of 300 for it."
