NEWPORT’S longest-standing market trader, Bryan Derek Moorton, has died at the age of 82.
Known as Derek, he moved to the Island from Eastbourne in the 1950s.
He started trading in 1958, in Newport and was trading until the day he died.
Derek’s legacy is still alive with his stall run by his daughter and granddaughter every Tuesday.
Having always been a hard-working man, Derek formerly owned Totland Pier and ran amusement arcades there and in his home town of Ventnor.
Well known and loved by many, he was married to Christine Kent and was father to Pete, Nigel, and Steph.
