IMPROVEMENT work totalling £235,000 is underway at Edmonton Green station under Railtracks station regeneration programme.

Construction workers have descended on the station to carry out repair work on gutters, drainpipes, brickwork and canopy roofs.

Meanwhile work at Enfield Town station, which started in February, has been completed. Up to £230,000 has been spent on repairs to canopy roofs and glazing and the resurfacing of platforms one and two.

Railtrack director Michael Holden said: We are working with our train operator colleagues to improve all stations and these two stations are some of the first in this area to benefit from our £1 billion national regeneration programme. Our ultimate aim is to provide rail travellers with stations which enhance the start and finish of every journey.

More than 2,500 stations will be refurbished over the next four to five years.
