A SPATE of credit card deceptions have led to police warning residents never to reveal their PIN codes.

The advice follows a case of deception in Sawbridgeworth and several in Essex where credit cards were being stolen from their owners and used to withdraw cash from their account.

Police are concerned that those involved in this type of crime may target other people in Hertfordshire and they want to ensure that credit card holders heed their warnings.

Det Con Nikki McGovern said: 'We don't want to reveal exactly how this is done because we would not want anyone to copy the method and increase this type of crime.

'What I would say is that people who have written down their PIN should never keep it with their credit card. Also people should never reveal their PIN to anyone, not even a member of staff from your bank.'

She added: 'A bank, or any other organisation, including the police, will not need to know your PIN under any circumstances.'
