Hillside's sports stars clinched their first silverware of the season when the year ten boys' basketball team clinched the District League title.

A comfortable victory over Sir Frederic Osborn left them with a 100 per cent record for the season -- a superb achievement.

Star performer was once again Ronald Robson who top scored, closely followed by Daniel Spears and Gareth Bond-Vaughan.

The remainder of the successful squad were Tony Francis, Ricky Brown, Ross Griggs and Michael Weinrich.

The year 9 boys continued their improved form, despite losing both of their games against Stanborough and Sir Frederic Osborn.

Chris Wells top-scored in both games, with useful contributions coming from Alistair Baird, Ashley Benall, Ravi Khera, James Blackwell and Ross Kirsop.

On the football field, no less than 11 boys were in the Mid-Herts Schools Representative Squads for last Thursday's games against Watford schools.

In the under 15 match, Gareth Bond-Vaughan and Michael Weinrich scored in a highly creditable 2-2 draw.

Ross Griggs was outstanding in defence, along with Hillside teammate Ricky Brown.

Steve Veal captained the side, with Jason Anayiotos and Robert Blackburne also in the line-up. In the under 14 match, Mid-Herts lost 5-3.

Jamie Lever, Daniel Percival, Chris Strange and Ross Kirsop were in the squad.

In Saturday's fixtures against Onslow School, the year 10 team travelled to Hatfield only to find the opposition with just five players.

However, in the year 9 match at home, Hillside came from 2-0 down to win 7-3.

Michael Phillips hit an impressive first-half hat-trick and four further strikes after the break came from Matthew Powell, Daniel Percival, Chris Strange and Ross Kirsop.
