A PRIMARY school in Watford has received a glowing Ofsted report within weeks of being awarded Investors in People status.

Following an inspection in February, Ofsted's report of Field Infant School in Neal Street praises a 'hard-working and friendly school'.

The school, which has 226 pupils aged between three and seven, was recognised by the inspectors as having improved since its last report.

Teaching at the school was described as 'good', with pupils making progress across the curriculum. Pupils showed a 'positive attitude' and a very 'enthusiastic approach' to learning.

Mrs Elizabeth Maykels, headteacher of Field Infant School, was delighted that the school had received such praise. She said the school's success was based on a 'strong and committed' staff who worked together with a clear focus.

Weaknesses highlighted in the report, relating to the teaching of science and the presentation and organisation of pupils' written work, were areas which had already been recognised and addressed by the school, Mrs Maykels said.

Field Infant school was awarded Investorts in People Status at the end of March.
