Mrs Clair Porter

Mrs Clair Porter.

A MOTHER of four from Carisbrooke has died, following a long illness.

Clair Porter, 42, of Wellington Road, Carisbrooke Park, was born at Queen Charlotte’s Hospital, Hammersmith, London, on January 9, 1970.

She was the youngest of four children of Pauline and Roy Drummer.

Mrs Porter attended Heathfield Infant School, in Whitton, Middlesex, until she was six years old, when the family moved to Ashford, Middlesex.

The family relocated to the Island when she was ten, settling in Newport, where she attended Trinity Middle School.

After leaving Carisbrooke High School, she went to the IW College where she trained as a hairdresser.

Mrs Porter subsequently went into the retail trade before finding her niche as a receptionist at Carisbrooke Health Centre, a job she loved.

She met her husband, Andy, in 1988 and in the following year, their first child, Abigail, was born. Over the next few years they welcomed a further three children, Jack, and twins Joel and Millie.

Mrs Porter was known for her happy-go-lucky approach to life and her big smile and will be sadly missed by all who knew her and loved her.

She leaves her husband and four children, her mother and father, a sister and two brothers and her grandmother.

A service will be held at the Minster Church of Sts Thomas, Newport, on Thursday, followed by a family interment service at the IW Crematorium.
