Grosvenor Casinos Day on Saturday brings the curtain down on another season at Epsom Racecourse. There is the promise of an excellent contest for the £30,000 Grosvenor Casinos September Stakes, run over the Vodafone Derby course and distance of 1½ miles, while sprinters in the Grosvenor Casino Southampton Handicap over five furlongs have a £50,000 bonus to aim at if they can break the course record on the world's fastest sprint track.

For the first time, Grosvenor Casinos Day rounds off the season for the Surrey course with a bang - it is a meeting that was transferred from nearby Kempton Park last year, but which was not staged 12 months ago as a mark of respect for Diana, Princess of Wales, whose funeral took place that day.

The Group 3 Grosvenor Casinos September Stakes invariably attracts some classy runners and is the highlight of a seven-race card which starts at 1.50pm. Meanwhile, the Grosvenor Casino Southampton Handicap should see a strong line-up of sprinters bidding to break the track record of 53.6 seconds set by Indigenous in 1960. Should the £50,000 bonus be won, the successful owner will be presented with £25,000 and the trainer £10,000, with the jockey, stable staff and Animal Health Trust receiving £5,000 each.

Peter Chapple-Hyam, whose powerful stable is owned by Robert Sangster, will be looking to round off the day for the sponsors with a win in the last race, the Grosvenor Casino Reading Handicap, courtesy of recent winner, Hollow Haze.

He has a great Epsom record, where he has seen his famous green and blue colours carried to victory in two Derbies by The Minstrel and Golden Fleece.
