Priscilla Mary (Cilla) Yates.

PRISCILLA Yates, who was affectionately known as Cilla, died on Tuesday, aged 55, following a battle with motor neurone disease.

Cilla died peacefully at the Earl Mountbatten Hospice with her four children, Carol, Kelly, Michael and Patrick, by her side.

Cilla was born in St Lawrence in 1954, to the late Richard and Josephine Stubbings, and shared a happy childhood there with her four younger brothers.

She had a full and interesting life. Having experienced many jobs, it was nursing she fell in love with. She worked for many years at St Mary’s Hospital, gaining respect and admiration from colleagues and patients alike.

Throughout her battle with motor neurone disease, Cilla showed continuous strength, determination and unwavering optimism.

Her family said: "Cilla was an truly incredible, beautiful person, who touched the lives of many."

Cilla’s funeral will take place at 2pm on Thursday at St Lawrence Parish Church and it is open to all who knew her and the family.
