TERENCE David Green, known as Terry, has died, aged 80.
Mr Green was born on the Island and grew up in Cowes as one of five children.
He left school at 15 and started work at Goshawk Shipyard, East Cowes, as an apprentice marine engineer until he was 18 and was called up for National Service with the Royal Engineers for two years.
He served in Germany near Dortmund.
He then had various jobs until he took a nine-month course in radio and television servicing at a government training centre in Slough.
From 1960 to 1990, Mr Green worked for companies, including Hitchman’s of Freshwater. He then took a gap year before working part-time at Bookers until he retired.
In his younger years, he travelled extensively.
Mr Green’s interests included photography, reading, film and, latterly, Egyptology, archaeology and geology.
He was very fond of animals and had dogs and cats.
He leaves a sister, sister-in-law, nephews and nieces and their families and will be greatly missed.
