A VICTORIAN flower-seller helped launch a new florist in Petts Wood last week.

Jacqueline Hollands and brother Tony Featherstone, who have another shop in Crockenhill, near Swanley, said they decided to ask the Victorian flower-seller along after reading about them in books.

Mrs Hollands said: "Apparently, because the roads back then smelt so bad, flower-sellers would do a good trade in `tuffy muffies', something sweet smelling you could breathe into while walking along."

On this occasion, however, she spent the day giving free plant pots to passing shoppers.

Jacqui is hoping to open more shops in the area in the future.
