A CLASS at a Marlow school has raised nearly £300 for a charity to help deaf people.

Pupils in class 7RC at Great Marlow School, in Bobmore Lane, Marlow, ran a cake, book and drinks stall, and raised £278.25 for the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People charity, based in Oxfordshire.

Charity representatives visited the school last month, and pupils were introduced to Samba, a Spaniel cross, one of the demonstration dogs which has also been used at Crufts.

Jenny Moir, the charity's public relations officer, said: "Everyone at the school can see what the charity does. She (Samba) got lots of love from all the children and seemed to have a really good time."

The charity is currently based in Oxfordshire but will soon be moving to its head office in Saunderton.
