They scored a huge 60 point victory over near rivals Aldershot to retain their 100 per cent record this season.

Only headed in the table by the new Enfield and Haringey combination, Croydon's effort on Sunday narrowed the gap. They won 45 out the 69 events.

The club sprinters were again in scorching form. Team captain Gavin Dublin won the 400m in 51.3 secs, while Ugochi Anomelechi took the 100m in 11.3 secs.

Dublin then led him home in a magnificent half-lapper for maximum team points.

Dublin brought the curtain down on a successful day for the Croydon boys and U17s, with an unassailable anchor leg in the 4x400m relay.

The middle distances benefitted from an injection of new blood, and Darran Corrigan covered the U15 1500m in 4:33.6. Jamie Baker came in second in 4:34.5.

Mathew Hall won the U17 pole vault at 3.15m, and later ran a good steeplechase second in 5:13.4. Duncan Johnston matched him as a stalwart B, with a pole vault personal best of 2.45m and 5:49.7 in the chase. The javelin event provided a clean sweep for the club, with Stephen Bates heaving the 4kg 42.22m, and he was backed up by David McCallef (39.77m). The U15s were outstanding too, with Stephen Bird throwing 36.38m and Kenny Arnold 22.45m.

Bates (12.99m) and McCazlet (11.16m) dominated the shot, but Bates had to play second fiddle in the discus to fast improving Richard Thorpe (38.22m).

U13 sprinters Emlyn Akotu and Jordan Roye dominated the short sprints with times of 13.1 and 13.3, and 26.6 and 26.8.

The club's 'B' team came second in the McDonalds Southern 2 East match in Hastings, where 12 year-oldAndre Greenaway won field athlete of the match with his 4.44m long jump.
