THE importance of the River Ravensbourne and its tributaries will be discussed at a public meeting on December 7.

Friends of the Great North wood will be hosting the event which will be held at St Augustines Church, One Tree Hill, Forest Hill from 7.30pm.

After recent flooding, it has become clear that new naturalistic systems of management need to be introduced to protect the neglected landscape of the urban river-way. At the meeting, Rachel Hill, conservation officer for the Environmental Agency, will speak to the audience about recent improvements to rivers in south-east London.

This includes the work done on the River Quaggy, Pool River, River Beck, Goldfinchbrook and Deptford Creek.
