RUGBYVentnor 64, Chineham RFC 0
ON-FORM Ventnor may have had a delay before their home match with Chineham in Hampshire Two, but they wasted no time in punishing the mainlanders with a polished performance.
Chineham missed their boat, resulting in a delayed kick off. However, Ventnor held their focus and, in biting conditions, took the game to the visitors.
It was 15 minutes into the game before Ventnor started to assert themselves with a pushover try from Todd Riches.
Then three tries from Ben Lush at centre showed where the points could be scored, as Ventnor built their score to 24-0 at half time.
In the second half the home team finally played fully to their real strengths, dominating the scrum.
The compact strength of the tight five forwards allowed the back row of Pemberton, Riches and Pickard free to cause havoc in open play.
This mobile play by the forwards led to quick ball for the backs, and four tries from AJ Wells Black Dog award winner Sam Lines, plus two from Damian Marriott, who added 14 points with the boot, saw out a good day for Ventnor.
Man of the match was Sam Pickard.
