RUGBYRomsey 45, Ryde 10
RYDE were in trouble before leaving the Island when five players failed to get on the bus.
Romsey were more than gracious and supplemented the depleted side but the disruption was too great for Ryde to overcome.
Romsey quickly settled into their stride and ran up a 24-point lead in the opening quarter before Ryde began to tick.
Ody finally led the way with his quick thinking scoring a captain’s try from a well constructed penalty move.
This led to an extended period of Ryde controlling play but no further points before the half.
The whitewash was eventually, and deservedly, breached by man of the match, Sayers, in the second half, following an astonishing charge from inside his own 22.
Romsey, however, took their chances to add a further three converted tries for a comfortable victory.
